Meet the team
Laurel Gass, LCSW
Owner/Therapist

"I'm so honored to be able to work with my community. We all, at some point, will need or desire to reach out for a helping hand. Some people have had therapy experiences before and others have never stepped foot onto the parking lot of a therapy clinic. Either way, you are welcome. No matter what your past or present looks like, I will meet with you as a human being.
I started Growing Places Counseling in 2022 and have been working in the community therapeutically since 2018. There is a deep passion held within me of wanting to help people reach their own personal goals in their journey of life. From anxiety, depression, childhood or adulthood trauma, relationship/attachment issues, and many other reasons to come to therapy,
I pride myself in investing in the most scientific and evidence based approached to help you reach your goals. If you choose to come to my service, I appreciate your bravery and desire to be a better human. After all, we can only change what we acknowledge to be real for us... which helps us become better individuals, partners, parents, and HUMANS."
Laurel Gass has been native to the Harrison area for majority of her life. Much of her experience in the field comes from the child abuse field, community mental health, and working within the Boone County, AR population in school-based and outpatient settings.
Laurel has been trained in several modalities, but the ones that speak truest to her passion is Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR. She enjoys working with a variety of clientele from couples, families, and individuals with or without traumatic experiences. She prides herself in continuing education above the standard required.
Laurel is a wife, mother of four children, and enjoys utilizing her green thumb at the office or her home during her off time. She loves reading and practicing cooking recipes, that may or may not be successful.

"Hi, I’m Joshua. My clinical background is in treating developmental and attachment-based traumas, offering strategies to access healthy bonding and co-regulatory processes. My focus is on striving to create a relationship of collaboration and trust with people, recognizing that they are experts in their own life and the author of their life story. I aim to provide a safe and authentic environment in which I use gentle approaches to help people untangle trauma and restore light and love to their relationships. I specialize in all kinds of trauma, with an emphasis on marital relationships, family conflict, addiction, communication skills, social skills, life review, aging, and grief work. I see couples, families, teens, and adults."
"I believe that people can absolutely be free from feeling stuck, stressed, and overwhelmed. They can find hope and enjoy healthy relationships again; they can reach for repairing in their lives instead of protections from their negative cycles. People can restore their natural ability to thrive and live in an authentic way with grace and dignity once more. It is an honor to help with this."
Joshua is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, nationally certified EMDR provider, and currently seeking national certification for Emotion Focused Therapy as well as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Brainspotting. His therapies include Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Emotion Focused Therapy, Brainspotting, Ego State Therapy, Child Centered Play, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Bilateral Hypnotherapy, Sandtray Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
